LACMA & The Hammer Museum: Your Guide to Los Angeles Museums This Fall

September 04, 2017

There are an impressive 850 million visits to American museums each year. This outnumbers all major league sporting events and theme parks combined. People love museums, and fortunately, Los Angeles has an extensive list of world-class institutions to visit. It would be impossible to list them all here, but check out our top two picks:

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036, (323) 857-6000

If you only have time for one museum, head to LACMA for a day of contemporary art bliss. With over 128,000 pieces of art, it’s the largest of its kind in the western United States. After exploring the exhibitions, swing by the museum's hip coffee shop, C+M, for a boozy milkshake or eclectic vintage-inspired deserts.

The Hammer Museum

10899 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024, (310) 443-7000

Visit for a digestible collection of edgy contemporary art. The permanent collection and rotating exhibitions are artist-centric and progressive. Currently on view in the lobby is Japanese artist Tabiamo site-specific work and first solo exhibition in Los Angeles.
